ACE Tutoring Program The art docent
chairperson will identify a parent volunteer from each classroom to provide art
lessons to students approximately once per month. The chair will work with classroom docents to provide training at the beginning of the year, will
update and revise notebooks and resource materials, and will work with volunteers
and the Art Specialist to plan and organize Fine Arts Night. Classroom art
docents implement already designed grade-level art lessons in coordination with
the classroom teacher requests. Classroom docents sign-up at classroom
level.
Volunteers assist Student Council Representative(s) and staff
with assembly programs for Veteran’s Day and Martin Luther King Day. The PTSA’s financial records are audited twice per year by an independent committee in accordance with Washington State PTA Guidelines. Three to five volunteers are needed once in mid-January and in mid-July to perform the audit. A financial background is helpful.
The chairperson oversees the outdoor BBQ for students and families. Volunteers assist with planning and implementation. Chair coordinates with the check recorder volunteers to record all funds received.

- The chairperson acts as a liaison between the PTSA and the book company, schedules volunteers for the event, arranges deposits with the PTSA Treasurer, orders supplies and arranges publicity for the fair. Approximately 20 – 30 volunteers are needed to help with publicity, setting up displays, act as cashiers, and taking down displays.

To Top - The chairperson refreshes and maintains the PTSA bulletin boards located at the landing of the main stairs. Chair is responsible for putting up and taking down flyers and displays in a timely fashion. This person will make sure that all committees get equal access to the board. In addition, they will assist the front office with the bulletin boards devoted to the School and Community news.

The chairperson coordinates and schedules volunteers to help Kindergarten, 1st grade, and new students off the bus and to the appropriate location to line up for their class during the first week of school.

- This committee plans, schedules and provides volunteers for Business Days. The goal of the event is to allow parents to complete necessary school and PTSA paperwork prior to the opening of school and assist them with any questions they may have. This event is also an opportunity for our community to learn about the PTSA. Students may have their pictures taken, deposit money into their lunch account, and complete paperwork if they wish to participate in the Banking Day program.

To Top - This program provides food, clothing and gifts to needy families during the holidays while demonstrating to Cascade Ridge students the importance of charitable support. Classroom volunteers are needed to assist in the planning and creation of the Caring-Thru-Sharing displays, and the organizing and delivering of donations.

- This committee assists the treasurer with the recording of incoming checks in an Excel spreadsheet for special events and fundraisers. They are called upon as needed by event chairs for support of a specific event or fundraiser.

- Coyote Crew – Traffic Monitors This chairperson coordinates the daily volunteer schedule and trains volunteers. Volunteers help during morning drop-off in the loop by helping students exit vehicles safely and quickly.

- This monthly newsletter publication includes news about the school, PTSA, district, and community. It is a partnership between the PTSA and the school. The committee chair will gather the articles on a monthly basis and arrange the newsletter in a reader friendly format. The committee chair is responsible for establishing deadlines, editing content, and converting the finished newsletter into an Adobe PDF file format for electronic distribution and web posting.

- This chairperson coordinates Logowear sales by working as a liaison between the Logowear company and PTSA. Volunteers assist in collecting pre-orders, sorting, and distribution of items.

- This is a weekly electronic bulletin that includes brief news about the school, PTSA, district and community. The committee chair will gather the articles on a weekly basis and arrange the electronic bulletin in a reader friendly fashion. The committee chair will email the weekly bulletin and maintain the email database.

- Destination Imagination (DI) is a national program designed to help develop children’s creative problem solving skills. Chair is responsible for coordinating a parent informational meeting and helping with team formation. Program culminates in regional competition in March.

- This chairperson oversees and coordinates this reading enrichment program. Volunteers help with prize distributions at lunches. Classroom volunteers tally student reading minutes for their classroom.

- This chairperson assists enrichment companies in the process of scheduling facilities and communicating insurance requirements for before and after school enrichment opportunities.

- This chairperson oversees planning and implementation of PTSA approved family/school community events. Volunteers assist on the evening of the event.

- This chairperson, along with PE staff, coordinates this all-school spring event of outdoor games held during the school day. Volunteers help setup and lead games on day of event.

- This chairperson coordinates with classroom art docents and plans a “Fine Arts Night” evening for families to view student’s art. Volunteers help with displays. May also involve scheduling of artists for students and parents to view during event.

- This committee copies and collates materials for first day packet envelopes that are handed out at Business Days and/or the first day of school, and works with school office to organize and process returned information. They may also copy and collate a mailing prior to Business Days depending on the request of the Principal. Chairperson works closely with check recorder volunteers to record and reconcile all funds received.

- This committee chair will act as the liaison between the PTSA and the gift wrap company. Committee organizes and distributes sales packets to students, helps to coordinate distribution upon arrival, and works closely with check recorder volunteers to record and reconcile all funds received.

- The objective of this committee is to continue to help build our school’s library as well as foster a love for books and a sense of pride in our library. Each month this committee will send a letter home with each student that has a birthday that month giving that student the opportunity to purchase a book that will be donated to the library in that child’s name.

- The grant writing volunteers help research, write, and comply with education-related grants on behalf of Cascade Ridge staff.

- Issaquah Schools Foundation (ISF) Liaison This liaison is responsible for organizing a Cascade Ridge table for the ISF luncheon in October. They are also responsible for helping to educate parents and promote ISF and their events through the Howler.

- This chairperson facilitates student-run programs for neighbors-in-need in Sammamish, Seattle and foreign countries along with distressed animals and the environment.

- This chairperson works with Issaquah Council PTSA Legislative Rep to advertise State PTA legislative priorities and school funding issues to the community. He/she also attends Leg. Assembly, Focus Day, and is a member of the PTSA Board and sends out “Action Alerts” to leg. database.

- This chairperson processes matching funds forms, reconciles funds received, and maintains database of parents that work at companies that provide matching funds.

- This chairperson coordinates entry of membership information into WaStatePTA database, reconciles membership numbers with treasurer, and handles payments for fees in Oct/Jan/May; also coordinates with Board regarding ideas to increase PTSA membership. - To Top
- Newcomer’s Welcoming Committee This committee is instrumental in helping all families at Cascade Ridge to feel welcome. They provide information welcoming new students and their family; they coordinate a Back-to-School Coffee, Quarterly Coffee’s with Principal, and a Kindergarten Open House.

- This committee is elected by the PTSA general membership and is responsible for recruiting volunteers to fill PTSA Executive Committee positions for the following year. They present the slate to the PTSA general membership for election in early spring.

- This chairperson acts as liaison between the Issaquah PTSA Council Parent Education representative and the Cascade Ridge community. They are responsible for seeing that articles are placed in the Howler/Yelp regarding parent education opportunities within our community and sending information to our website. He/she may also schedule a parent education seminar at Cascade Ridge.

- This committee chairperson is responsible for encouraging participation by Cascade Ridge students, families, and friends in Corporate Affinity (passive fundraising) programs supported by the PTSA such as Box Tops for Education, Office Depot, eScrip, Target and more.

- This committee sells popcorn prepared from our PTSA-owned popcorn machine to students and staff every Friday during lunch. The committee chair trains volunteers on how to use the machine and also creates the popcorn volunteer schedule.

- This chairperson works with the school and PTSA to compile data, copy, and distribute the directory of student names, numbers, and pertinent school information to PTSA members.

- The Washington State PTA, in partnership with the National PTA, sponsors an arts education contest known as the Reflections Program with a different theme each year. This chairperson and their volunteers promote and organize the program in conjunction with State PTA. Chair will work with art docent chair and classroom docents to promote the Reflections program.

- Room Parent Coordinator Chairperson This chairperson is responsible for coordinating and communicating with room parent coordinators at the classroom level and creating a database of PTSA classroom jobs for each teacher. Examples include: a list of art docent by teacher, a list of Eager Reader volunteers by teacher, etc.

- This committee is in charge of coordinating school supplies requested by the staff at various grade levels, selecting a vendor, advertising in the spring, taking pre-orders for school supply packs, and distributing school supply packs at Open House.

- The Science Fair is held to encourage the exploration of science experiments and projects and includes hands on experiments for fair attendees. This committee is responsible for the planning and implementation of Fair and also coordinates with check recorder volunteers to record all funds received.

- This committee plans luncheons periodically to thank our staff for the hard work they do. They also plan and encourage student and parent participation during teacher appreciation week in May and provide treats to staff during conferences.

- The Issaquah School District nurses perform vision and hearing testing for all Cascade Ridge students on a yearly basis. This chairperson is responsible for acting as liaison to the ISD nurse, soliciting and scheduling volunteers, and securing refreshments.

- This committee organizes and implements a Walk-a-thon fundraising event that fosters community spirit, unity, and fun. Committee is responsible for gathering volunteers, concessions, communication of event, pledge forms, and also, coordinates with check recorder volunteers to record all funds received.

- The chair of this committee updates the Cascade Ridge PTSA website and maintains the site to make sure the information is correct and current using MS Office FrontPage.

- This chair and committee coordinates a Winterfest student craft event by securing volunteers, planning crafts and activities, and coordinating concessions. The chair coordinates with check recorder volunteers to record all funds received.

- Writing Program – Literacy Week These volunteers assist staff with coordination and implementation of writing program activities during the year including letter writing week, postcards, and Literacy Week.

- This committee produces an annual Cascade Ridge yearbook available for purchase by students and staff and delivered in June. The yearbook features every class, specialist and school group. It highlights other activities that occur during the school year. The chairperson acts as the liaison between PTSA and the yearbook publishing company, works with and trains layout volunteers and photographers, ensures photos are taken at all school events, and ensures completion of each yearbook page. Classroom yearbook volunteers sign up at the classroom level.
