As a parent at Cascade Ridge, I am always happy to find out about ways we can help our school and our teachers provide the best possible education for our kids, despite budget cutbacks and the demands we all have from area schools our children attend. I am pleased to let you know about one such local organization: The Issaquah Schools Foundation. By supporting ISF, you create enhanced learning opportunities for students at every elementary school in the district that no one school can accomplish on their own such as replacing our K-5 Science curriculum, training all teachers to teach to different learning styles or providing VOICE Mentors to every student in need.

My goal this year is to learn all I can about this great resource and find out how we can best support them so they can support us.

I hope you will join me at the first PTSA General Membership Meeting, immediately following Curriculum Night (September 14th, 7-9 p.m., CRE Cafeteria) where you will have a chance to meet a member of the ISF Team and learn more.

Until then, I’d like to share some news from ISF (for more information visit isfdn.org or email me anytime at cathia@cathiageller.com):

Calling for Kids Annual Fund - With a Twist

You've bought school supplies, ordered the yearbook, and cleaned out the stores at the mall. How do you complete your Back-to-School list? With a donation to the Calling for Kids Annual Fund. Calling for Kids is a critical part of the annual Back-to-School process. Campaign dollars help ensure that the Foundation can provide its ongoing slate of programs. Our ability to fund After-School Homework Labs, the VOICE Mentor Program, Academic Enrichment Grants, Robotics Clubs, Financial Literacy Classes, National Board Certification Scholarships and a brand new K-5 Science Curriculum depends on donors like you.

This year, the Calling for Kids campaign has a twist ... an element of friendly competition. The school with the highest percentage (not dollars) of participation will win the first ever Calling for Kids award. It's more important than ever to contribute. Whether you can give $5 a month or $500 a year, please give. Your contribution will make a tremendous impact on the educational resources available to our students.

Calling for Kids is now through October 28. Contribute by October 7 and we will remove you from our call list.
